Business Development Research Analyst

Finance Project Controller – Rolling Stock

Role Summary:

The Candidate manages the assigned portfolio of projects focusing on cash in, risks, project margins, candidate reports and analyses the deviation and acts as a business and financial advisor to the Project Manager/Director. Candidate is the point of contact for all project related financials.

 

The candidate will be involved from the early stages of project costing submission for a key project.

 

Main duties and responsibilities include:

  • Mandatory requirement - Project Control and bottom-up costing experience in rolling stock mid-life refurbishment projects;

  • Experience in the total project costing, including risk-based pricing strategies – the candidate will be responsible;

  • Manage the project control process from a financial aspect/support PMs to validate forecasts and Costs to Complete/ explain deviations to Budget;

  • Able to identify issues early and alert management with recommended remedial course of action;

  • Ensure that all Financial Documents that are required for the project review process are prepared in a timely manner for Internal Reviews, attend / lead Projects Reviews;

  • Maintain Projects Budget in and the recommended project accounting software to ensure margin on sub-contract packages and Variation Orders are reported correctly;

  • Provide input on risks, opportunities and claims valuation;

  • Manage FOREX and ensure hedges are taken were necessary;

  • Manage cash by following up actual figures and forecasts and follow up the implementation of cash improvement actions;

  • Establish and manage trading plan, recognise revenue milestones in the project plan and ensure appropriate documentary evidence is obtained in line with accounting and other Governance Rules;

  • Close-Out Projects in timely manner;

  • Provide project KPIs and coordinate with other finance interfaces: controllership, external auditors and internal risk management

 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Professional accounting qualification – At least 15 years post qualification experience;

  • Good knowledge in the relevant project accounting software is essential – Candidate will have the opportunity to recommend preferred software;

  • Good Excel skill and PowerPoint is essential;

  • An understanding of hedging principals;

  • Excellent command of English and Bahasa Malaysia;

  • Good analytical skill is essential;

  • Training and mentoring

  • Works well under pressure and achieves deadlines;

Job Responsibilities

  • Support Business Development in identifying and executing business development activities;

  • Perform research using all resources available, including our business network,

  • Analyse, interpret, and present data related to markets opportunities, economics, and other information related to our business (rail, transportation and aviation) in a systematic, statistical and intelligent manner;

  • The role may transition into Project Management (Structured in-house project management training will be provided) and managerial level responsibilities

 

Job Requirements

  • A 2.1 degree or 3.3+ CGPA from a recognised institution

  • 3 years work experience in (any) role relevant to the responsibilities above

  • Candidates with engineering backgrounds are encouraged to apply. There are numerous engineering areas you can grow into;

  • An understanding financial concepts is an advantage

  • Must be proactive, able to work independently with minimum supervision;

  • Quantitative, analytical, logical, and good at managing numbers and data;

  • Excellent communication and presentations skills;

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively as a team;

  • Proficient in Microsoft office tools: Words, Excel, Power Point;

SPECIAL OFFICER TO GROUP EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR (Based in Pulau Indah)

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage special Projects for the Group Executive Director (GED);

  • Arrange and accompany travels, meetings by developing itineraries and agenda, scheduling and booking transportation, arranging lodging and meeting accommodations;

  • Develop and maintain reliable sources of information from government, interest groups and other organizations that provide timely and accurate data on political, economic and social developments of different countries;

  • Contact government officials to arrange meetings or obtain information on current or future programs;

  • Flexibility and mobility are crucial. May be required to work and/or be “on call” after normal duty hours which may include evenings, weekends or holidays and attend periodic functions and related events.

 

Job Requirements

  • Candidate with Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Literature, Psychology or Sociology preferred;

  • Minimum 5 - 6 years of working experience in related field;

  • Candidates below 35 years of age with marketing approach preferred;

  • Critical thinking skills are essential and ability to multi-task as well as multi-function;

  • High level of commitment and does not mind working long hours

 

Other Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills both English and Bahasa Melayu;

  • High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality at all times;

  • Strong attention to details and ability to follow-through with a high level of accuracy;

  • Ability to adjust to different cultures;
